Journey to Hearing: Stories of Giving Back
Hearing & Speech Center of Northern California’s latest video, featured at our annual gala this spring, showcases three of our employees whose personal experiences with hearing loss inspired them to work at the Center to help others in need. Dorothea Tolliver was diagnosed with hearing loss at a young age. She came to the Center to learn both speech and sign language, where she now is an employment specialist for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Kathleen Favor was diagnosed with hearing loss at the Center after her tap dance instructor noticed she had a hard time paying attention and following along in class. She is now a clinical audiologist, helping those with hearing loss live up to their full potential. Steven Lopez and his sisters were all diagnosed with hearing loss as kids and were brought to the Center for treatment; he now serves here as program manager.
